This lecture, led by a veterinary pathologist, will focus on the histopathologic evaluation of solid gastrointestinal neoplasia in small animals. The session will review sample handling, tissue processing, and interpretation of key histologic and immunohistochemical features used to classify and grade GI tumors. The discussion will also highlight common diagnostic challenges, biopsy limitations, and strategies for improving clinicopathologic communication.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participants will be able to identify key histopathologic features that characterize common types of solid gastrointestinal neoplasia in small animals.
Upon completion, participants will be able to explain the use and interpretation of ancillary diagnostic techniques such as immunohistochemistry.
Upon completion, participants will be able to recognize common diagnostic pitfalls and describe strategies to enhance communication between clinicians and pathologists.
