Left bundle branch block and chronic right ventricular (RV) pacing have been associated with systolic heart failure. Although, chronic RV pacing has been known to have the potential to induce a non-ischemic cardiomyopathy, left bundle branch block and pre-excitation syndrome have been recently identified as a potential reversible cause of cardiomyopathy due to a shared mechanism, referred as Abnormal conduction-induced cardiomyopathy. This session will review pathophysiology, diagnosis, management and prognosis of this clinical entity.
Learning Objectives:
Understand the consequences and management of chronic RV pacing to prevent and/or treat heart failure.
Understand the consequences and management of left bundle branch block to prevent and/or treat heart failure.
Understand the consequences and management of pre-excitation syndrome to prevent and/or treat heart failure.
