Cardiac arrythmias are frequently found in horses in ambulatory and referal settings. Understanding their clinical relevance and most appropriate diagnostic modalities will allow technicians to fully utilise their skills. This session will review the anatomy of the heart, aetiology and physiology of common arrythmias, how to gain a diagnostic echocardiogram, basic interpretation of the trace and troubleshooting problems. It will cover potential treatment options for common arrythmias such as atrial fibrillation and what to prepare for in an emergency situation such as ventricular tachycardia.
