Presentation Description / Summary:
Knowledge of pathologic changes caused by aquired and congenital heart disease provides a strong clinical foundation. It enables 1) recognition and understanding of disease processes, 2) improves identification of specific radiographic and echocardiographic patterns- by connecting visual abnormalities to their clinical significance, and 3) links cellular injury, inflammation, fibrosis, hemodynamic alterations, and structural remodeling to their radiographic and sonographic manifestations.

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participants will be able to identify and understand the pathologic correlates of echocardiographic imshrd for feline cardiomyopathy, canilne myxomatous valve disease, cardiac cancer, encocarditis, pericarditis, and treatable congenital heart diseases.
Upon completion, participants will be able to learn basic, clinically useful cytologic and histopathologic finings in canine and feline heart diseases.
Upon completion, participants will be able to identify and distinguise between heat failure and the common, important lung diseases that can masquerade as heart failure.
