Presentation Description / Summary: Most of us have heard that "storytelling" can be an effective way to communicate, especially if what we're trying to share is complex or we're communicating to a non-clinical audience. But what really is storytelling and how do you get started? In this session, we'll walk through a framework for storytelling with data, share examples of how to build a narrative, and completing a personal application exercise. Storytelling doesn't have to be complex or squishy -- and we can use a storytelling framework in a variety of situations to enhance our professional communications.
Learning Objectives:
Understand the key elements of building a narrative that will help you tell "stories" with data
Create a setting and a hook, which are the beginning components of our story framework
Leverage a story-teller framework to enrich communications about data and other complex topics to all types of audiences
