Presentation Description / Summary: This session will highlight recent developments in the field of large animal maternal–fetal medicine with a focus on practical tools for improving pregnancy outcomes. Topics will include advances in fetal cardiac imaging and monitoring, and strategies for managing high-risk pregnancies in mares and cows. Emphasis will be placed on integrating emerging technologies with clinical decision-making to optimize both maternal and neonatal health.

Learning Objectives:

Fetal echocardiography, including imaging modes, and their application to identifying normal fetal cardiac anatomy, evaluating fetal cardiac function, detection of common abnormalities in structure or rhythm and their clinical contexts.
Insights into equine fetal cardiac ontogeny with relevance to cardiac assessment of the neonate in the first month of life.
