Presentation Description / Summary: We’ve all managed the hypotensive scope patient who still won't stay asleep. So what’s the next step? Locoregional anesthesia. This session focuses on how nerve blocks can improve patient comfort and stability during internal medicine procedures. We’ll discuss appropriate case selection, basic mechanisms, and practical benefits for both the patient and the care team. When used thoughtfully, nerve blocks can reduce anesthetic requirements, improve comfort, and make challenging procedures more manageable.
Learning Objectives:
Understand pharmacology of locoregional anesthesia.
Know what nerve blocks apply to specific internal medicine procedures.
Perform a variety of locoregional blocks at the very next opportunity.
Learn how to respond to local anesthestic systemic toxicity.
