Presentation Description / Summary: The single right coronary ostium as originally described by Buchanan in dogs of bulldog ancestry is widely recognized in clinical practice and relevant to dogs with pulmonary valve stenosis. However, the single right coronary is not the only coronary artery abnormality seen in animals. This talk will highlight numerous additional variants identified in dogs using high resolution coronary CT angiography - focusing on how to optimize CT scans for coronary imaging, how to recognize coronary artery anomalies, the diagnostics of choice to confirm an anomaly, and the clinical relevance of coronary artery variants.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participants will be able to describe the coronary circulation of dogs - both normal and anomalous variants.
Upon completion, participants will be able to appreciate the value of coronary CT angiography in assessing coronary artery anatomy in dogs and how to optimize scans for high quality imaging.
Upon completion, participants will be able to describe which coronary artery anomalies are of clinical relevance to their patients.
