Presentation Description / Summary: This presentation will review different types of modalities in extracorporeal therapy that maybe used to treat toxicities. Attendees will learn how to decide which is the best modality to use based on characteristics of the toxin ingested including molecular size, volume of distribution, drug half-life, maximum concentration , and time between ingestion and presentation, The audience will be challenged with case examples

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion, participants will be able to list 3 types of treatment platforms for the management of toxin ingestion.
Upon completion, participants will be able to list at least 4 toxin characteristics that will determine the treatment platform selection.
Upon completion, participants will be familiar with writing a prescription for an extracorporeal platform for toxin removal
Upon completion, participants will be familiar with the most common toxin presenting for veterinary care amenable to extracorporeal therapy.
