Neurologic neoplasia presents unique diagnostic, therapeutic, and nursing challenges in specialty practice. This session will provide an overview of common primary and secondary neoplastic conditions affecting the nervous system, with an emphasis on clinical presentation, diagnostic approach, and practical case management. Attendees will review key neurologic tumor types, typical imaging and laboratory findings, and common treatment modalities including surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and palliative care.
Particular focus will be placed on the role of the veterinary technician in supporting these patients through advanced nursing care, monitoring for neurologic change, managing complications, and communicating effectively with the veterinary team and clients. By the end of this session, attendees will have a clearer framework for recognizing neurologic neoplasia, understanding treatment goals, and optimizing patient comfort and outcomes throughout the course of disease.
