This session will review the diagnosis and management of nasopharyngeal stenosis in a feline patient following a comprehensive oral health assessment. Advanced imaging with CT and rhinoscopic evaluation confirmed the presence and extent of the stenotic lesion. The patient was subsequently treated with balloon dilation, a minimally invasive technique aimed at restoring nasopharyngeal patency.
The discussion will explore the suspected underlying cause of the stenosis in this case, with particular focus on regurgitation during a prior anesthetic event as a contributing factor to inflammation and subsequent scar formation. Attendees will gain insight into risk factors for anesthetic complications and strategies to mitigate them in clinical practice.
In addition, the session will outline key aspects of inpatient care, including peri-procedural monitoring, nutritional support, airway management, and pain control. Finally, the patient’s clinical outcome will be presented, highlighting both short-term recovery and longer-term follow-up, with consideration of the risk of recurrence and overall prognosis.
