Gayle graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2002 and completed a large animal internship and large animal internal medicine and emergency and critical care residencies at the Royal Veterinary College, London. She then moved to the University of Nottingham to complete an equine cardiology-based PhD funded by HBLB and stayed on faculty there to full Professor for 15 years. After a brief stint leading global education with IVC Evidensia, she returned to specialist clinical practice in 2024. She is also Editor-In Chief of Veterinary Medicine and Science, a Wiley Journal and a Trustee for SPANA.
