Dr. Mamula is an immunologist and Professor of Medicine in the Department of Medicine/Rheumatology and the Yale Cancer Center at the Yale University School of Medicine. Dr. Mamula's interests have been in understanding the mechanisms of early disease in autoimmunity (lupus and type 1 diabetes) as well as early events that may affect anti-tumor immune responses. Recent studies from his group have defined novel cancer neoantigens that trigger vigorous anti-tumor immune responses to the EGFR/HER2 family of proteins. These EGFR/HER2 neoantigens have been formulated into an immunotherapy that is underway in canine cancers, specifically osteosarcoma, hemangiosarcoma, and urothelial cancers.
