Gunther van Loon graduated from Ghent University, Belgium where he became Head of the Large Animal Internal Medicine Department and of the Equine Cardioteam. He is ECEIM Diplomate and Associate Member of ECVDI. He finished his PhD on “Atrial pacing and experimental atrial fibrillation in equines” and received the Merial Applied Equine Research Award for outstanding research regarding ‘Advances in Equine Cardiology’, awarded by WEVA. He has a major interest in cardiovascular diseases, specifically in arrhythmias, electrophysiology, 3D electro-anatomical mapping and radiofrequency ablation.
