Katelynn Ondek is a second-year neurology and neurosurgery resident at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. She completed her veterinary degree and a PhD in neuroscience at the University of California, Davis, where she studied the diagnostic and therapeutic utility of hippocampal theta rhythms in rodent models of epilepsy. In residency, she has continued to pursue her research interest in developing better biomarkers for epilepsy in a clinical canine population.
