Ingo Schäfer studied Veterinary Medicine in Hungary and Germany. Ingo Schäfer continued working as a scientific employee. He finished his Master of Small Animal Science and doctoral thesis. He is a resident of the European College of Veterinary Clinical Pathology at the Laboklin laboratory in Germany. His special fields of interest are vector-borne infectious diseases and immune-mediated diseases. He authored 43 peer-reviewed publications.
