Kamilyah is an Assistant Professor and the section head for parasitology diagnostics at the Kansas Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory at Kansas State University. Parasitology is Dr. Miller’s passion, so she left private practice and obtained her PhD degree from Kansas State University. Her doctoral research examined the prevalence, potential health risk and improved diagnostic identification of Echinococcus spp., mainly Echinococcus multilocularis, in coyotes in the Midwest United States. Her research continues to focus on improving diagnostics for the detection of Echinococcus spp. in domestic and wild canids. Dr. Miller also enjoys mentoring veterinary students, educating the community on parasites and parasite prevention, and spending quality time with her family and dog TobyMac.
