Dr. MacKillop is the first and longest practicing veterinary neurologist in Western Pennsylvania. He has worked at BluePearl Pittsburgh (formerly Pittsburgh Specialty and Emergency Center) for the last 18 years. Dr MacKillop is currently collaborating with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center on novel therapies for canine glioma. Their most recent project looked at tumor cryoablation followed by regional infusion of check-point inhibitors using an augmented reality headset. Upcoming projects include intraoperative photodynamic therapy and magnetic hyperthermia therapy using iron-oxide nanoparticles.
