Sian Durward-Akhurst is an Assistant Professor of Genetics, Genomics, and Large Animal Internal Medicine in the Veterinary Clinical Sciences Department at the University of Minnesota. She received her veterinary degree from the University of Glasgow. She did an equine internship at the Royal Veterinary College and worked in private practice in the beautiful Peak District before moving to Minnesota for a Large Animal Medicine residency a PhD in Comparative Genomics. Her research is focused on improved understanding of cardiac arrhythmias and reducing the frequency of exercise associated sudden death in racehorses.
