Dr. Shannon Holmes graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College, completed a small animal rotating internship at Michigan Veterinary Specialists, and completed her diagnostic imaging residency at Washington State University. She has served as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Florida and Associate Professor at the University of Georgia. She was a founding radiologist for Illumipet, LLC Teleradiology. Presently, Dr. Holmes is the founding radiologist of AXIS – Animal Cross-Sectional Imaging Specialists.
Dr. Holmes was a contributing author to the first veterinary small animal MRI textbook (Practical Small Animal MRI, Ed. Dr. P. Gavin). She has contributed to the textbook Diagnostic MRI in Dogs and Cats, 2nd Edition (Ed. Dr. W. Mai), authoring chapters on imaging at low- and high-field, advanced pulse sequences, and musculoskeletal disease. She is a consulting radiologist for the Animal Medical Center in NYC and Animal Scan, LLC. Her primary professional interests are neuroimaging and canine and equine musculoskeletal imaging.
