Dr. Katie Sheats is a Professor of Equine Medicine and Primary Care and serves as the Associate Dean of Professional Education and Admissions at NC State College of Veterinary Medicine. She is the recipient of multiple teaching awards including the UNC Board of Governors Awards for Excellence in Teaching and the AAEP Distinguished Educator Award for Academia, and is recognized as a Distinguished Educator by the Academy of Veterinary Educators. Dr. Sheats is passionate about competency-based veterinary education, professional identity development and workplace-based teaching and learning.
