Shay McIlquham Crooks is a Veterinary Technician Specialist with a passion for neurology and a diverse veterinary career. Starting in equine medicine in 2014, she transitioned to small animal specialty medicine in 2016, building expertise in Surgery, Rehabilitation, Diagnostic Imaging, and Neurology. A proud US Army veteran, Shay served alongside her husband before entering the field. Her dedication deepened in 2021 when she adopted a chocolate lab was diagnosed with hydrocephalus — igniting a deep interest in intracranial disease and seizure management that culminated in her VTS (Neurology) credentials in 2025. Outside of work, she enjoys running, reading, and riding horses, and lives in Carmel, IN, with her husband, two dogs and a cat.
