The session will include an explanation of why a Ridden Horse Pain Ethogram (RHpE) was required, how it was developed and validated, and factors that may influence RHpE scores, with practical advice about how and when to apply the RHpE. The RHpE can be used to identify the presence of musculoskeletal pain, to differentiate between training problems and the response to discomfort, and to confirm that a horse is probably working comfortably.
Learning Objectives:
To recognise the importance of evaluating horses during ridden exercise.
To understand how to utilise the Ridden Horse Pain Ethogram.
