Co-Laboratory Director and Partner Specialty Vetpath Seattle, Washington, United States
Presentation Description / Summary: This presentation will introduce immunocytochemistry (ICC) as an underutilized, non-invasive diagnostic using previously stained and evaluated cytology slides to provide diagnostic and prognostic information to clinicians. In this presentation, there will be a brief eview of the science of ICC, with case examples being the primary highlight of the session. The use of ICC requires active communication and a working relationship between the pathologist and clinician in order to determine the appropriate sample, markers, and interpretation of results.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participants will be able to describe immunocytochemistry and it's use as a non-invasive diagnostic.
Upon completion, participants will be able to list some common molecular markers used in ICC and their function in cell biology.
Upon completion, participants will be able to apply this understanding of the ICC diagnostic to a clinical case.
