Presentation Description / Summary: Improvements in our ability to identify risk, make an early diagnosis and provide targeted therapies have changed the ballgame and turned prognostication on its head. This 2 part lecture series will examine how recent advancements can be translated into practice to better prevent and manage laminitis in horses. Using clinical cases, in this session we will examine new approaches to diagnosis, treatment and prognosis for hyperinsulinemia associated laminitis

Use digital radiographs to diagnose and monitor acute , subacute and chronic laminitis
Understand how advanced imaging modalities such as PET can be used for laminitis diagnosis
Formulate an appropriate treatment plan for acute and chronic hyperinsulinemic laminitis
