Presentation Description / Summary: This session will be a panel discussion with input from surgeons and internal medicine specialists on controversial topics in managing cPSS on dogs and cats. These topics will include the benefits of surgical vs. medical management, how to predict outcomes after surgery, how to assess outcomes after surgery, and decision making when the outcome after surgery is suboptimal.

Learning Objectives:

Recognize the controversies in the decision to pursue different options for management of cPSS
Recognize the limitations of current biomarkers to predicts outcomes of surgical shunt attenuations
Assess the outcome after shunt attenuation
Formulate a management plan when a dog or cats has a suboptimal; outcome after shunt attenuation
