Presentation Description / Summary: This presentation will discuss evidence-based diagnostic strategies, treatment considerations, and individualized monitoring protocols as relating to the management of patients with hypercortisolism (Canine Cushing syndrome).
Learning Objectives:
Critically evaluate advanced diagnostic strategies for accurate diagnosis of hypercortisolism, type differentiation when appropriate, and considering the impact of co-morbidities on clinical decision making.
Compare and contrast options for tailoring treatment of canine hypercortisolism to individual patient need, including discussion of medical management, surgical intervention, and ideas for how to approach treatment-refractory cases.
Apply an evidence-based approach to effectively monitor of hypercortisolism treatment based on integrating recent research, comparison of protocols, and addressing adverse effects possibly associated with therapy.
