In this presentation I highlight appropriate use of nitrile gloves and hand hygiene in clinical practice. Overuse or misuse of gloves, also without appropriate hand hygiene, can increase cross contamination reducing effective infection prevention and control, pose risks to staff health, contribute to unnecessary costs, result in excessive waste, and cause environmental harm.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participant will be able to use the WHO-adapted Five Moments for Hand Hygiene in veterinary practice.
Upon completion, participant will be able to apply the Glove Use Pyramid when making informed risk-based decisions about glove use.
