This presentation will review the definition of neuropathic pain and explain the anatomy and physiology of pain perception. The challenges of identifying an entity that cannot be seen will be discussed and the design and testing of an owner questionnaire to capture the emotional aspects of neuropathic pain will be described. The use of gabapentinoids will be discussed.
