This session will discuss Rift Valley fever impacts on livestock production and human health across endemic areas in Africa. Will also discuss potential routes of introduction into the United States and One Health approaches to animal and human vaccine development and use-case scenarios.
Learning Objectives:
Understand the intersection of humans, vectors, livestock, and emerging arboviral zoonotic diseases and health impacts of Rift Valley fever virus on multiple species.
Develop a working understanding of potential routes of introduction of Rift Valley fever a transboundary disease into the USA.
Learn about One Health approaches to Rift Valley fever control using vaccination programs for livestock and humans in endemic settings, and by extension the United States following potential introduction of the disease.
