Presentation Description / Summary: This roundtable event will be chaired by Prof. Chen Gilor and will include Profs Catherine Scott Moncrieff, Lucy Davison and Charlotte Bjornvad. It will involve discussion on recent updates in integrating nutritional and medical strategies for management of feline diabetes mellitus. Special attention will be drawn to use of SGLT2 inhibitors. References will be also made to results of recent research presented in the preceding sessions on achieving diabetic remission in overweight cats and also results which build on long-term safety and efficacy data for use of SGLT2 inhibitors.

Learning Objectives:

  • Upon completion, participants will understand how concurrent use of nutrition and medication can result in improved outcomes in the management of feline DM.
  • Upon completion, participants will be able to summarize current and emerging therapeutic applications of SGLT2 inhibitors and understand how diet therapy plays a role in diabetic management with SGLT2 inhibitors.
