Kelly Swanson is the Director of the Division of Nutritional Sciences, Kraft Heinz Company Endowed Professor in Human Nutrition, and Professor in the Department of Animal Sciences and Division of Nutritional Sciences at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. His laboratory studies the effects of nutritional intervention on health outcomes, identifying how nutrients impact host physiology and gut microbiota, with primary emphasis on the gastrointestinal health and obesity of companion animals. Over the past 2 decades, he has obtained over $28 million in research grants and gifts, published over 295 peer-reviewed journal articles, given over 175 invited lectures at scientific and professional meetings, and trained over 55 graduate students and post-docs.
