Presentation Description / Summary: Veterinary students’ expectations of new graduate independence often exceed their own confidence and even that of experienced practitioners. This session highlights how professional identity formation—shaped through clinical education, mentorship, and reflection—is critical to preparing practice-ready veterinarians. Drawing on recent research, we’ll discuss how educators and diplomates can actively support the development of capable, resilient general practitioners.
